Why do you do yoga?

Updated: Apr 24, 2022

This is a question i got asked early on in the practice.

And a question i still ask myself and fellow practitioners every year. The answer keeps evolving and changing every year as our practice and our life conditions evolve.

I do yoga because on a practical level, it sharpens the intellect and intuition to razor sharp precision. It helps me focus and helps me see things clearly. But deeper than that, it brings me back to Whole. Whole as compared to what? Whole as compared to duality. That we see on the mat, how similar we are. That we then slowly understand non duality that we can bring the practice off the mat to life. Seeing others as ourselves and as the Universe/ Consciousness/ God.

Yoga is a practice. It is not something else to achieve and the different poses serve as a way of challenging the mind of its perceived limitations that we continually keep exploring. Until we come to that spot, where Time and Space drops away… of truly Who we really are.

Om, That is Wholeness, This Wholeness From Wholeness comes Wholeness Though this Wholeness is taken from that Wholness This Wholeness remains Whole Om Peace, peace, peace
